Number Translation Configuraiton

PBX -> Applications -> Translations

Introduction

Sometimes it is required to manipulate source or destination numbers. Some cases:

  • Your SIP provider gives you several geographical (DID) numbers and one number should belong to one user and another number should belong to another user. In this case when users do outbound calls you need to change user’s caller ID to his own number. In this case, you create a Source translation rule.
  • You users make outbound calls using local dialing rules. But your SIP trunk requires all numbers to be sent in E.164 format with a plus. In this case, you create a Destination translation rule.

You set the translation type when you define a translation rule.
